Calgary's Andrew McDougall wins world championship team trials in squash

MONTREAL – Andrew McDougall of Calgary won his four matches this week to place first at tightly contested Canadian team world squash championship trials which were held here this week.

Three of the eight matches at the trials went the five-game limit and two more went to four. Dane Sharp of Ajax, Ont., was the heartbreak kid of the tournament losing two matches in five games.

Both McDougall and second place finisher Andrew Schnell of Calgary join Shahier Razik of Toronto and Shawn DeLierre of Brossard, Que., on the Canadian squad for the world team squash championships set for August 21-27 in Paderborn, Germany.

Razik and DeLierre had already clinched berths on the team because of their world rankings. Razik is currently ranked 31st and DeLierre 58th.
