ST. VINCENT & GRENADINES

ST. VINCENT DOMINATES O.E.C.S TEAM SQUASH

The local fans had plenty to cheer about, as the Vincentian National Team demolished the opposition in the 2005 O.E.C.S Squash Team Championships.

In the Veterans' Team division, the trio of Colin Alexander (Men's 40+), Vonnie Roudette (Women's 40+) and Keith Boyea (Men's 50+) topped the British Virgin Islands squad of Neville Sorrentino, Sue Sorrentino and Jon Osman by 2 matches to 1 to take the title.

For the Women's Team title, Rachel Haslam and Greta Primus triumphed over Lily Bergasse and Melissa Rivers at no. 2 and 3 respectively, to clinch the title ahead of St. Lucia.

The Men's Team proved to be the backbone of the team's success, as the lineup of James Bentick, Paul Cyrus, Shane Slater and Roy Defreitas whitewashed all their challengers by a 4-0 margin. On the final day, Cyrus and Slater registered 3-0 victories over their 2nd-placed Dominican opponents at no. 2 and 3 respectively, while Bentick and Defreitas received walkovers.

In the Overall Title match against St. Lucia, the home team avenged a disappointing 4-6 loss in 2004, by crushing their rivals by 8 matches to 2.
