TOP SEEDS CLAIM INDIVIDUAL TITLES IN O.E.C.S SQUASH


 

 

After two long days of competition, all the top seeds cruised to their respective individual titles in the 2005 O.E.C.S Squash Championships (May 12-15).
In the Women's 40+, Sherian Slater (VIN) defeated compatriot Vonnie Roudette (VIN) 9/3, 9/4, 9/0 for the top position in the Round Robin draw.
In the Men's 40+, 3-time defending champ Colin Alexander (VIN) emerged victorious over Neville Sorrentino (BVI) with a 9/7, 4/9, 9/7, 9/1 win.
In the Women's Open, Alana Simmons (LCA) prevented a clean sweep of the titles by the home team, defeating Sherian Slater (VIN) 9/3, 9/5, 9/5 in the final.
In the highly anticipated clash between James Bentick (VIN) and Charlie Sonson (LCA), Bentick confirmed his status as no. 1 in the O.E.C.S, triumphing 3-1 over his archrival.
The tournament now moves on to the team event, with the marquee matchup between hosts St. Vincent and St. Lucia scheduled for 4:00PM tommorrow (Saturday).
